The Highland Deli on the Web! Help

Maureen Writes....

Hello Folks,

Hope you are well, and looking forward to browsing on the Lair Deli. A short intro from us, the people in the thick of it. I am Maureen Pritchard, originally from the wilds of Caithness, and co-partner with Callum Standring. Cal is English (from Manchester - but we don't hold that against him). No one is perfect but he is great with the yummy cheese! Also, Cal has designed and created this web site all by himself - now you know who to blame! A big thank you from me to him, as it let me off the hook! We hope that you will find it simple to use, its certainly intended to be.

My talents are, apparently, more to do with talking (Donkeys, Hind-legs removal thereof!). I enjoy speaking and exchanging ideas with you, the customer (Cal tells me he has some interesting ideas in the pipeline on this score for this site). Long-term we are looking to re-create the "Deli experience" on the web!. Some of you will have met me previously when we had the shop in Union Street, Inverness - good to see you back, and also a big hello to the newcomers.

Enough bleathering, lets talk Cheese, Olives and Charcuterie.... oh, and not forgetting Biltong! To start with, these will be our main product lines:

  • Cheese - we've kept over 150 in the shop, and we'll hope to expand on this - Scottish to be a speciality!
  • Olives - from differing parts of the Mediterranean.
  • Charcuterie - we're looking to move to small, artisanal producers, offering authentic quality at keen prices, and to include hand-carved Italian and Spanish hams (the only place in the Highlands to offer this!). Cal reckons he can set up a web-cam and STILL keep his fingers intact!
  • South African - watch this space, Biltong et al. Trouble is, Cal ends up eating most of the Chilli Biltong himself!
